Sasquatch
Sasquatch. 2016. copper 4ft (121.92 centimeters)
Sasquatch is a zoetrope of a sasquatch walking. This sasquatch is inspired by the Patterson/ Gimlin film (1967), currently one of the best film of a sasquatch. With the sasquatch as electroformed copper, with its color and elemental quality, it brings a connection to the natural and earthy qualities associated with this fascinating creature,. For both my zoetropes, the werewolf and sasquatch, I utilized a type of animation referred to as replacement animation, in which a new puppet is created for every movement and replaced for every shot. To keep the size the same from puppet to puppet, I made a mold. For sasquatch, I made a plaster push mold for the use of casting clay. I would pose each figure to create an animated sequence, paint them with dag, and place in the electroforming bath; the average setting for the sasquatches was 5amps and 0.65 volts with three sasquatches in the bath at a time.
